Simple tips when buying makeup

How many times have you been at the store looking at beauty products and have no clue about what to purchase and what things you should consider?

Let’s start with skincare, if you are brand new in the skincare game you want to be conscious of what you are putting on your skin so it’s important that you get high quality products. Now, if you are trying to do a 12-step skincare routine, ask yourself this question: will your lifestyle allow you to use all the products and stick to that routine? The best way to save money when you buy your beauty products is being able to use all of it before they expire! So be mindful of this and if you have a busy life, I suggest you start with the basics which are a good cleanser, toner, moisturizer and SPF.

What about liquid foundation or any other liquid formula? When buying foundation there are two things I don’t want to see but trust me I’ve seen it! Make sure there is no separation of pigments hanging out on the wall of the product, when you see that, it means that the formula is not strong or stable enough, another red flag is when they have a poor shade range giving you less choices. Beauty companies want to sell you their product and make their money but when it comes to foundation it shouldn’t look orange, feel uncomfortable or look cakey so don’t settle on a shade that isn’t quite right for you.

All mascaras are not created equal, when you’re buying mascara choose a waterproof one and observe the type of brush it has. An oversized thick wand creates volume although it could be messy, a flatter comb wand will give you more definition and make your lashes look wispier and more separated. Once you find the type of brush you want it’ll be much easier to pick one specifically for your lash type and personal preferences.

Buy the right eyelash curler, everybody has a different eye shape, lash curlers have different degrees! The things you should look for is the width this means that the level of the curve should match your eye shape, for example, if you have almond shape eyes you want to buy a flatter curler 38 degrees wider curve, but if your eyes are more round and protrude choose an eyelash curler with a 60 degree or deeper curve. If you are not sure, start with the standard classic instead.

Last but not least invest in a good lip or eye pencil sharpener, this will help you to use up all your makeup pencils, create defined and clean lines.

At the end of the day, it’s all about self-love and caring for your skin.
