Things to consider when booking your bridal beauty team

If you are a 2024 bride it is very possible that you already have your dress, photographer and booked your venue, but what comes to mind when it’s time to book your hair or makeup artist?  

Wedding day beauty has a huge role on how you experience a big part of your day, but beauty is such a personal thing so finding the right team for you is so important. 

Gifting beauty services to your bridal party vs letting your bridal party do it at their own cost 

This is a personal decision but if you are worried about the cost, my biggest tip is that you can always offer to pay for just one service, hair, or makeup. 

Always confirm who wants beauty services before inquiring with vendors 

Know how many people will need hair or makeup done for a more accurate quote on cost.  

Choose an artist whose style is similar to yours  

Share the artist information with your bridal party, that way they know who the artist is, their work and cost. They may or may not be comfortable with your choice but...  

Don’t choose your personal beauty team relying on your bridesmaid's preferences 

Relying on your bridesmaids' preferences or budget may limit your selection. 

Everyone's face and style of makeup is different, this is why brides should always ask, and bridesmaids be transparent and find their own artist if they do not feel comfortable. 

As a bridesmaid if you don’t really want to get your hair and makeup done by the chosen artist, again it’s not what is said but how you say it, you could say to the bride that you have somebody else that you love how they do your hair and makeup and that you would feel more comfortable with them. 

Don’t take long, we artists book fast! 

If you wait too long to have a preview or makeup trial but don’t like the way they make you look you can be in trouble trying to find somebody else in a short time. It is best to choose 3 of your favorite makeup artists and check out their availability at least 6 to 9 months before your wedding, you don’t have to commit but you must make sure you can reserve them for your day. 

Have your skin ready because there is only so much your artist can do on the day. Remember that long-lasting makeup is only possible if you take care of your skin.
