Discover your True Colors
What are yours?
We all know what colors makes us feel better and have the tendency of wearing certain colors more than others not just for our clothes and accessories but also for our makeup.
Color is so important in our life because wearing the right one brings out the best and makes us feel more confident and attractive, on the other hand wearing the wrong one detracts, makes us look dull and lifeless, pushing your face into the background.
As a makeup artist most of my work wardrobe is black for three reasons, one is formality, two when I’m trying to do makeup to my clients I don’t want color to reflect into my clients face and change their complexion and three to somehow fade in the photos and video cameras so my clients become center stage. This is just a simple example on how color evokes thoughts and meanings.
Personally I believe that most people can wear any color but it’s the shade and intensity that counts.
The right color in your face is as important as the right color in your clothing because you will never look your best in a makeup that contradicts your natural skin tone.
Don’t be tempted by colors that don’t look good on you. If brown tones are trendy but they don’t look good on you don’t wear them.
Always check a foundation in natural daylight. Most stores dont have the right lighting and you can end up buying the wrong color for your face.
Skin undertones will always be the best predictor at the time to choose your blush and lipstick. By taking a very white piece of paper and holding it under your wrist and hand or covering your clothes with a white shirt or sheet is a great way to understand whether your skin tone has gold (warm) undertones or blue, purple or red (cool) undertones.
You can also do the silver/gold test, if silver complements your skin better than gold you likely have cool undertones, if instead gold looks better you have warm skin.
The right color brings a healthy color to your face, minimizes lines and dark circles and makes you look more awake by harmonizing your natural complexion.
If you are uncertain always ask two people how the color looks on you. Compare one color and it’s opposite and you may be surprised!
At the end of the day we are all after a feeling, the feeling of feeling good!
Find yours and Be Beautiful!
