To the Late Afternoon Bride

It’s September 1st 5:00 pm, spending time with my hubby away from home and all I have in front of me is the beautiful sunset and my laptop. I can’t help but think how amazing this time of the day is and why it’s a favorite for couples getting married.

Near sunset is the most popular time for weddings I do in summer and fall. Temperatures have cooled down and because the sun is below the horizon you can see the brightest colors and a more vivid sky.

Near sunset beach weddings give opportunities to the photographer for some phenomenal pictures.

One other main advantage of choosing a late afternoon wedding is that you have all day to prepare for hair and makeup especially if you have a larger party.

Because the light is so forgiving it allows you to use a little more foundation and concealer to cover your flaws if your skin is less than perfect.

A shimmery eyeshadow looks beautiful at this time of day or even a richer lip color!

As the evening comes, blush and bronzer are also very important to give yourself a little more color since your photographer will be using a flash.

Highlighters have the strongest ability to reflect light, a matte or satin highlighter is much more flattering in this case for a subtle sparkle.

Just remember that the difference between and earlier and later makeup is the light. For late afternoon you can always add more color and contrast to make it more visible.

The ideal time to have your wedding is when you want it! Visualize the vibe and what the wedding theme will be and this will help you pick the best time of day for you.
