Lashes Do’s and Don’ts
There is something so lovely about a good lash and for me it has always been the cherry on top of a beautiful makeup. Yes! They make a big difference! These days you can find an immense variety of them and even if you are hesitant to wear them there is a lash for you!
What should we look for when wearing lashes?
We all love the length and volume that we instantly get but that should not be the only thing we should look for.
As a makeup artist I look for three things, correction, harmonization and the perfect blend. When I apply lashes, I want to correct the eye’s proportion and also harmonize the eye shape. When a lash blends in, the result looks natural, and this is exactly what I’m looking for.
Do’s and Don’ts
Incorrect length: A lash should not pass your lash line. If it does, it will make you look sad and add years to your face. It is also important to observe how close your natural lash line is to your brow. This will determine how long your lash should be. For example, when brows sit very close to your eyelid, then you should choose the shorter lashes.
Even length: Avoid a lash that looks all the same length as if they have been cut across with scissors. This type of lash looks very fake.
Choose a lash that blends very naturally as some lashes can be very voluminous in the outer corner and almost nothing for the inner corner. Sometimes cutting them on the outside corner can help, but my best advice is to choose a better style that has a more natural transition.
*If you really look at your natural lashes, you can see that they are not all the same length, even at the outer corners of the eye you can find tiny ones too! Just try to mimic that when applying lashes*
Heavy lash: when the curl that has been chosen is very heavy, lashes can look very harsh. Curly lashes can also give you a droopy effect and look very artificial.
When lashes are immediately seen, this means that something is not quite right about the application or that the chosen lash is not the perfect for you. Lashes should always enhance the beauty of your eyes and not conceal them. So go out there show those eyes and stay beautiful ✧
