Wedding Makeup Mistakes

#1 Trying anything drastically out of your comfort zone

Your wedding is a special occasion so if you are not used to wearing red lipstick, a dramatic cut crease or even a really thick winged liner then don’t do it on your wedding day because you don’t want to look back on your photos and not feeling like yourself.

Tip

Hire a professional makeup artist that can guide you in elevating your look without hiding your best features. It is also completely fine if you want to do your own makeup on your wedding day. If you decide to do it and buy new makeup to achieve a look, make sure you try it on ahead of time and get a feeling of how it will wear.

#2 Not doing a Makeup Trial

A makeup trial is so important and I’ll never get tired of saying it! A makeup trial is so helpful because you want to know how is your makeup going to look like on your day, get to know your makeup artist and make adjustments about your look.

Tip

Have your hair done for the makeup trial, it doesn’t have to be done professionally but at least make it look pretty! if you are going to have your hair back the day of the wedding pull it back nicely that way you can have a better idea on how it all comes together.

#3 Skipping the rest of your body

For the foundation to look cohesive it’s important not to skip your ears, neck and decolletage if it’s exposed.

Tip

Blend your foundation downwards past the jawline, put also a dab of foundation on your neck and spread onto your chest.

#4 Wearing too heavy Lashes

Heavy lashes will weight down your overall eye look, have a fake appearance and can be uncomfortable to wear. Individual and cluster lashes are a great way to enhance a natural look and you can customize them to your eyes.

 Tip

If you prefer a strip lash don’t forget to measure them to your eyes and cut them from the outside not from the inside, otherwise you will ruin the shape of the lash.

#5 Not wearing waterproof mascara! Oh no…

I always recommend to wear waterproof mascara! The last thing you want to worry about is runny mascara due to all the emotional moments on your wedding day.

Tip

Jojoba oil is a non-comedogenic oil rich in vitamin A, D and E that will remove even the most resistant makeup such as waterproof mascara. Check my blog post How I remove my makeup and something about me and learn how I use it ♥

Bonus Tip!

Start a skincare routine weeks before your wedding day, it doesn’t have to be complicated, just keep it simple and gentle and your skin will thank you!

Have a wonderful time and Be beautiful! ♥
